TELLY tycoon Julie Meyer has insisted she won’t swap Scottish Dragons.
The American stars alongside Edinburgh entrepreneur Shaf Rasul on internet broadcast Dragons’ Den Online, which made the leap to BBC2 earlier this week.
It’s been such a hit that there’s speculation she will join the panel alongside Clydebank-born Duncan Bannatyne on the main BBC1 show.
But investment advisor Julie, from San Francisco, has no intention of ditching Scottish Sun columnist Shaf.
Stars … Duncan, Shaf and Julie
She said: “I have a real chemistry with Shaf and call him my magic Dragon. We come at pitches from different angles, but however we do it really seems to work.
“I wouldn’t like to try it with four other people in the room like they do on the main show.
“I much prefer our format, though the bosses are always telling Shaf and I we speak too quickly – us entrepreneurs are impatient people.
“But we share the same beliefs. We’re mentoring entrepreneurs.”
The online show is aimed at younger viewers, with a maximum investment of £50,000 rather than £200,000.
Regular host Evan Davis has been replaced by Radio 1 presenter Dominic Byrne.
It has been so successful the Beeb began screening an eight-part spin-off on Wednesday.
And Julie admits she’s enjoying his new-found stardom after critics called her “the best-looking Dragon” and “impossibly cute”.
The 43-year-old – who attended a fundraiser in Edinburgh with Shaf last night to raise money for The Prince’s Trust – joked: “Maybe they were getting me mixed up with Shaf as the cute one!”
Watch Dragons’ Den Online every Wednesday at 9.30pm on BBC2.
